Lycra Satin Fabric

Width: 150 cm
97% polyester / 3% lycra

One side has a smooth, glossy surface, while the back has a matte surface. The fabric is tightly woven and has a slight 2-way vertical stretch, which makes it quite durable. Most standard lycra fabrics have a poorer structure than this one. Its weight per square meter is heavier, which gives the fabric a richer feel and provides a better grip when draping.

The spandex content of Lycra Satin makes this fabric an ideal choice for fitted garments. This fabric is ideal for dresses, blouses, underwear, skirts, dance costumes and more. In addition, thanks to its elegant texture, lycra satin can also be used for curtain fabrics, decorations and handcrafts.

Washing Instructions

1. Wash inside out at a maximum of 30 C.
2. Do not use chlorine bleach or bleaching agents on colored items.
3. Never use detergents intended for white fabrics on colored items.
4. When washing is finished, do not leave the fabric waiting in the machine.
5. Do not wash colored and white items together.
6. Never fill the machine completely.

The average meterage values below are calculated for standard sizes and a 140-150 cm width. They include a 3-5% shrinkage allowance and seam allowances. For wider widths (180-220 cm), 10-20% less fabric may be enough.

Calculation Tips

Mind the fabric width: The table values are for 140-150 cm width. With 220 cm width fabric you can buy about 20% less.
Patterned fabric: For large patterns (florals, stripes, etc.) buy 15-20% extra fabric for pattern matching.
Pleated and full pieces: Require 2-3 times the fabric of a straight cut.
Shrinkage allowance: A 3-5% shrinkage on the first wash is normal for cotton fabrics. Pre-washing is recommended.
Seam allowance: A 1-1.5 cm seam allowance is included in the tables.
Lining: Lined projects need as much lining fabric as the main fabric.
